Dr Paul McQueen

Dr Paul McQueen is a Clinical Psychologist holding a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Melbourne. He has been working in Toowoomba since 2006.

Dr McQueen is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based interventions for a range of mental health conditions. He has particular interest in Performance Psychology. He also enjoys working with clients with anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and complex-PTSD, and is a sought after therapist in these areas.

Paul practices Clinical Neuropsychotherapy and utilises evidence-based therapies including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), DNA-V, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to deliver best treatment to clients.

Training & Experience

Dr McQueen has 17 years’ experience providing services to adults and children as a registered psychologist. In addition to his role as the Clinical Psychologist and Director of Thrive Wellness for the past nine years, he has also worked as a psychologist in the following areas:

  • Toowoomba Hospital Hepatitis C Treatment Program
  • Toowoomba Adult Mental Health Service
  • Toowoomba Child & Youth Mental Health Service

While completing his Doctorate, he also undertook supervised practice in Mental Health Services in Melbourne and Bendigo and at the Royal Children’s Hospital Psychology Clinic in Melbourne.

Dr McQueen is a Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor. He provides supervision to Clinician’s and Registrars seeking regular contact supervision but is also available for one-off consultations to organisations and clinicians seeking input on complex cases.

Felicia McQueen, Practice Manager

Felicia McQueen

Felicia is a Certified Practicing Nutritionist and Accredited Exercise Physiologist with special interest in gut health, nutrigenetics, nutrigenomics, exercise genomics and nutritional psychiatry for improved mental health and wellbeing. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science with Exercise and Nutrition majors, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) research degree in cognitive neuroscience. She has been in private practice for 10 years and enjoys helping clients become more energized, healthy, and thriving versions of themselves.

Through thorough assessments, nutrigenetic and functional testing, Felicia identifies personalised nutrition, environmental and lifestyle recommendations tailored to the client’s needs and goals. She prescribes supplement, diet, and exercise plans and provides clients with comprehensive and follow up support, assisting them in moving towards living the life they desire and engaging in activities that are meaningful and important to them.

Felicia is passionate about evidence-based, research-informed practice. Prior to transitioning to private practice in 2014, Felicia worked in Health Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (as a research assistant and academic tutor), Deakin University (as an academic tutor), and Swinburne University of Technology (as a lecturer). She has also worked in injury rehabilitation and advisory roles, and served as a public nutrition educator.

With her comprehensive knowledge and experience, Felicia provides her clients with the highest level of care and support on their wellness journeys.

Michelle Nolan

Michelle is a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for improving the mental health of individuals residing in the Toowoomba community. She draws on her excellent listening and communication skills to provide a person-centred, recovery-based approach to treatment.

Michelle has over 10 years’ experience working as a Psychologist in public hospital and private practice settings, where she has worked with children, adolescents and adults. She has also completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology and is AHPRA registered with a practice endorsement in clinical psychology.

Michelle has a special interest working with individuals with eating disorders. She adopts a team approach to care, offering evidence-based psychology therapy interventions, including family-based therapy for younger individuals.

The evidence-based therapies Michelle utilises in sessions include: Family Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FBT-AN), Cognitive-behaviour therapy-enhanced for eating disorders (CBT-E), Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), Trauma focused CBT (TF-CBT), ACT, DBT, and CBT.

Olivia Logan, Clinical Psychologist

Olivia Logan

With over six years experience as a Clinical Psychologist, Olivia is able to support and treat clients who experience anxiety, grief, loss, depression and trauma. Having specialised in women’s health across her career, she has experience in the treatment of co-morbid health disorders and concerns such as endometriosis, infertility, chronic pain and adrenal fatigue and burn out. She advocates and has a passion for a multidisciplinary and wholistic approach to health and wellness. 

Utilising various evidence based therapeutic modalities such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (MBCT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and Self-compassion focused therapy, Olivia provides comprehensive, evidence-based, effective mental health interventions.

Olivia approaches her clients with empathy, authenticity and respect, valuing their expertise, intuition and innate wisdom nurtured throughout their own journey. She is honoured to support them on their path towards healing, wellness and self-discovery. 

Thrive Wellness will be farewelling Olivia in 2024 – her last day seeing clients will be the 12th December. We wish her and her family lots of fun and adventure for 2025!

Christopher Wright, Psychologist,

Christopher Wright

Born and raised in Toowoomba, Chris has a Masters in Clinical Psychology with over 3 years’ experience providing psychology and mental health supports services to youth through older adults.

His special interest areas are depression, anxiety, developmental factors, substance abuse and trauma. Chris enjoys working with clients of all ages, and is particularly passionate about working with youth and young adults, equipping them with skills to be independent and cope with life effectively.

Chris uses evidence-based, cognitive behavioural therapies such as CBT, ACT, DNA-V, EMDR, solutions-focused brief therapy (SFBT) and motivational interviewing for effective clinical intervention. He is passionate about providing a cooperative, patient-centred approach that is focused on achieving excellence in clinical outcomes.

Breeanna Spain, Psychologist

Breeanna is a registered psychologist with 6 years of experience in both public hospital and private practice settings, working with youth and adults of all ages. She is currently completing her Master’s in Clinical Psychology (advanced entry) at USQ.

Breanna is committed to providing evidence-based, outcomes-driven therapy that makes a meaningful and measurable difference in people’s lives. With a focus on trauma, including sexual assault, complex trauma, and personality disorders, she brings extensive experience from her years in the public sector, where she applied a trauma-informed, inclusive approach to all her work. Breanna also supports individuals navigating stressful life transitions, grief and loss, overwhelming emotions, and eating disorders.

Breeanna uses a range of evidence-based therapies, including CBT, ACT, TF-ACT, DBT, and SFBT, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s unique needs. For those with eating disorders, she utilises CBT-E and FBT to inform her treatment approach.

In addition to her private practice work, Breeanna brings 5 years of experience from Toowoomba’s public hospital service, where she was employed as a psychologist in various roles. She worked with the Sexual Assault and Support Services (SASS) team, Adult Mental Health Unit (AMHU), Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYHMS) and the Acute Response Team (ACT). In these positions, she provided crisis support, risk assessments, safety planning, cognitive assessments, and delivered therapeutic interventions across individual and group settings.

Appointments with Breeanna will be available starting 10th January 2025.

Hailing from the picturesque landscapes of New Zealand, Katrina made her way to Australia in 1993, embarking on a journey that led her to call various regions of South-East Queensland home. Settling in Toowoomba since 2017, she has established a deep connection with the community. With a versatile skillset cultivated in health, hospitality, finance, and education sectors, Katrina contributes a rich tapestry of expertise to our team. Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds joy in gardening, baking, and exploring new horizons through travel.
